Body image is a HUGE topic in today’s society, and the vegan community is no exception. Many people go vegan in order to lose weight and look “better.”
You can find thousands of videos, books, and article on vegan weight loss, raw vegan weight loss, how to lose weight on a vegan diet, et cetera. While health is certainly an excellent reason to go vegan, as well as a great benefit, most of us associate health with how attractive we perceive ourselves to be—often really meaning how thin we are.
When we really look at the reasons to be vegan, though, just how important is how we look? How much does a suffering animal in need of liberation care about your love handles? Is the environment or the world’s hungry people helped by you loosing those last 3 pounds? Think about it.
Check out the video above for some silly demonstrations of my body image’s impact on the animals, environment, and society at large.
