This is for kids, because YOU can save the world! Today we learn how you can be a superhero for the planet, people and animals. The decisions you make and the actions you take can change the world. Let’s put on our capes and make a difference!
Hi there! If you’re a kid, then you have the power to save the world!!! [I guess I should explain that a little.] Today we’re going to talk about how you can save the world! And you don’t even have to be able to fly or have x-ray vision or super-human strength, though if you do have any of those, that is totally awesome.
So far in the kids series, we’ve talked about why we don’t drink milk, or eat eggs or meat. and I introduced you to some awesome vegan kids from around the world, who we’ll hear more from soon. You can find links to all of those videos below if you want to watch them later.
But today we’re going to talk about how you have the power to save the world with two things you already have: your choices and your actions. What I mean by that is, you can change the world with the decisions you make and the actions you take. [tweet this]
Now, here is something adults may not tell you, but we’ve really messed things up. You see, we adults like to say “the children are our future.” But honestly, with the mess we’ve made of the world, that’s kind of like saying it’s your job to fix our mistakes, which isn’t really fair. So everything that I talk about today, are things that we adults can do too rather than sitting on our butts and expecting you to clean our mess. [tweet this]
We talked about this in the video 5 Reasons We Don’t Eat Meat, but our planet is in trouble. The way we have been treating the environment is destroying our earth, which is a pretty important place.
You may hear adults talk about saving the environment by recycling, or taking shorter showers, or not driving so much, but the truth is, the one thing hurting our planet more than anything else is the way we eat. [tweet this]
Eating animals and their milk and eggs, uses so much water and energy, and creates a LOT of garbage and pollution. Eating animals makes more gas pollution than all the cars, planes, trains, busses, ships, jets, motorcycles, minivans, jetskis, mopeds, and any other form of transportation you can think of in the entire world! A lot more actually.
If you really want to hear all the number and details, check out this video of mine that goes into all of this a lot more!
But here’s the good news. While trying to get everyone in the world to stop driving, flying, boating, motorcycling, jestkiing, minivanning, mopedding, or whatever, would be really hard, and trying to save water by never showering wouldn’t really help enough (and would be pretty smelly!) you can make a HUGE difference for the planet right now with how you eat!
When you choose to not eat animals, you’re saving a ton of water, land and energy, and you’re creating a LOT less pollution. Every time you chose to eat vegan food, meaning any food that doesn’t come from an animal, you’re a superhero for the planet! That may sound a bit silly, but it’s true. What you choose to eat can literally save the world! That’s pretty awesome, right?
And here’s another amazing thing you do when you choose to eat vegan. You help feed other kids who don’t have enough food to eat. You see, when we eat animals, we have to first raise and grow those animals, which take a lot of food—I mean have you ever seen how big a cow is? They need a lot of food to grow that big! So what ends up happening is that about half of our food, which could go to hungry kids, goes to the animals that we then eat.
We are already make enough food to feed all the people in the world, but because we keep eating animals, there’s not enough left for everyone. So not only are you being a superhero for the planet when you choose to not eat animals, but you’re a superhero for the people too!
And that’s not all! When you choose to eat vegan food, you become perhaps the greatest superhero ever to the animals. When you sit down to breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you get to decide to let the animals live free and happy lives with their families rather than scared and sad lives in cages before they are killed for food. Now if that’s not a superpower, I don’t know what is!
Now you know that you have the power to save the world and be a hero to the planet, the people, and the animals, all with the choices you make and the actions you take. By not eating animals, you can change the world and make sure that when you grow up, the next generation of kids has a planet to live on, food to eat, and animals to love. You also make sure that kids can be free from hunger (and from cleaning up after adults) and animals can be free from cages, fear, and death.
And like I said, we adults need to do our part too. This is a decision everyone can take, no matter how old we are. But something tells me you kids are going to lead the way because aside from being superheroes, you’re also super smart. So let’s strap on our capes and save the world! [tweet this]

My four year old loves, loves, loves this video. She just watched it 5 times in a row – at the end when you say to thumbs up the video if you like it she gives a double thumbs up to the screen every time.
So great to see the empowerment she gets from watching the video. Currently she is running around the room in a cape saving the world.
Thank you.
