60 seconds may not seem like much. But it only takes a minute to change everything. With all the hours of heartbreak in the world, take 60 seconds to find the hope to keep fighting.
I’ve seen a lot happen in 60 seconds.
Been outside buildings where minutes are measured by body count.
Watched trucks carrying 10,000 to their death pass by within seconds.
I’ve seen the numbers.
I’m not naïve.
I know 60 seconds won’t change the world.
Because it’s the countless minutes of heartbreak that can make 60 seconds of hope so very powerful.
People always ask me how I keep going, working day after day in the face of heartbreak and death, watching hour after hour of brutal footage, living fully absorbed in the gut-wrenching reality of what we do to the innocent beings on this earth.
So I thought I’d share what drives me.
Because while I know that every second of the day holds untold suffering and death, I cannot stop fighting. For the all-to-few who survive, the fight made all the difference. And for countless more facing their final 60 seconds, I owe them all the time in the world.
