In today’s world we can’t conceive of living without a car. Today I wanted to share with you how I haul lots of food, boxes, and more totally car-free and give you a tour of my local co-op and tasty vegan food, including my own grocery haul!
One of the reasons most people struggle with not having a car is how to transport large objects or “hauls.” Today I wanted to make a more informal, practical video post to show you how I run errands and pick up large vegan grocery hauls all without a car. It’s a great way to take care of the practicalities of life and increase your fitness all in one! [tweet this]
I use a Burley flatbed trailer on my bike to haul any number of things, in addition to a milk crate (using its power for good rather than the evils of dairy), and two side bags, so I can really load things up! [tweet this]
Now I know that not everyone has incredible local co-ops with a range of vegan options near them. The vast majority of my life I lived in areas that had very limited options–but it’s still very doable! I was able to even order bulk produce at a discount from chain stores by going through their produce department. And hey, you can even find options at a gas station!
Be sure to check out the video for the real action and the vegan grocery tour! [tweet this] There’s even vegan “beef” jerky! I’d love to hear from you–do you have a car or do you rock the car-free living? Are you a biker too? Let me know in the comments!

Love the video. I haven’t driven a car in 7 years and my husband got rid of our car about 5 years ago. We walk into town about every other day and load our groceries in our child’s push chair. We get our big grocery haul one a week delivered to us, since the only store that sells vegan is in the next town over. I think a lot of people get to use to driving cars every where. Burn some fat not gas. LOL :)
Loved the errant run. Loved the co-op too. You are right you can still live vegan with the stores around you. Ben and Jerry’s is coming out with vegan ice cream next year.
I have small feet, too. Size 5 which is impossible to find. There are a lot of vegan shoes but hard to find size 5.
I wish I could live without a car… I have to travel so much for studies :(
:( That’s no fun. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
